Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect at my first class?
It depends on the class, but expect an all-around great workout. You will learn technique and correct form. Expect to have fun. Expect to meet all sorts of new supportive people no matter where you are on your journey.

What will I need to bring?
For your fist few classes, we provide loaner boxing gloves, we also have gloves available for purchase at the counter. We train without shoes on the mat, but you’re welcome to keep your socks on. We do recommend bringing tennis shoes as we do run and occasionally do activities in the parking lot. We suggest you try and wear somewhat form fitting clothing; bagging clothing can get in the way or slow you down. If the gentlemen are participating in a hand to hand class such as Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai an athletic supporter is a MUST, EVERY TIME.

What should I eat before a class?
We recommend eating at least an hour or so before class. Try small portions of a bland food such as oatmeal or bread. Too much sodium or sugar (from yogurts or fruits) can cause you to fatigue quicker and can cause nausea. We also suggest not to drink too much water before hand as it can cause you to feel sick. Bring water or a sports drink with you and pace how much you drink throughout the class for optimum rehydration.

I really want to lose weight, but need to focus on my nutrition too - can you help with that?
Absolutely! Mike Robinson is our certified dietician and is fully equipped to help you develop a plan to meet your goals regardless of reason. He trains fitness competitors from Muscle Dawg Fitness in Dayton, OH and is a well-respected leader in the fitness and competition circuit. He helped Scot cut from183lbs to 135lbs in about 8 weeks just in time for a competition.

Additionally, our classes utilize high intensity interval training (HIIT) and are maximum calorie burners - you can burn up to 725 calories in just 60 minutes! Because the routines are constantly changed up, you'll never get used to the same thing. Between the diet and the exercise, you'll be sure to lose weight!

Do you offer personal training sessions?
Yes. They can be arranged in half hour or hourly increments. See Scot for details.

Are Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Sparring open to beginners?
Yes, all classes are open to all skill levels. Sparring is optional and is at the coaches discretion. Most coaches would suggest members have a good base before sparring.

I do not feel comfortable sparring, do I need to participate?
Sparring is completely optional! Classes are meant to be fun and informational. If you get to a point where you want to try, let a coach know. Otherwise, focus mitts and heavy bags are typically used in our classes
